Single button MP3 player

Hi,
are you searching the internet for a single button MP3 player or Flash player button to install on your web site? There are a few single player buttons on the internet but the ones I have tested all have some kind of deficiency. Either they don't work in a particular web browser and you are stuck with asking your viewers to use this that or the other web browser or the code is too difficult for inexperienced web site owners to install.

I needed a single button MP3 player that I could use across all browsers without any concern that it would make my viewers click away and be lost forever. Heck who wants that? After a lot of searching and experimenting with different player scripts I can confidently say that this Wimpy Button player is number one, the best. I won't discuss the other MP3 single button players because they had defects of one kind or another.

Wimpy Button

Wimpy Button is a versatile single MP3 player button script that is easy to install on your web site. The Wimpy Button can be sized to suit your web page requirements. The button has two standard shapes rectangular or circular. Both shapes are animated while the file is playing and return to the start arrow icon when the file completes its play cycle.

This player is ideal for a web page that needs to feature several or more clips of music. The Wimpy Button can activate music files of any length. You can download the Wimpy Button Maker from the Wimpy web site to make your buttons. The Button Maker allows you to tailor your button to suit the style of your web site. You can select colors, styles, shapes and sizes with the button maker.

When you are satisfied with your custom single button player design then you just click the save button and the software generates the code you need to run your button. You then insert the code in the position on your web page where you would like the button to function.

The button code can be inserted in the cell of a table or between <p> tags or some other HTML tag. The button code can be HTML or Java script. I prefer Java script for my single button players especially when I insert several MP3 players on the one web page. The Java script is very short so it doesn't have a great effect on your content ratio to script factor.

Here is a sample of the button code:
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/JavaScript">
writeWimpyButton("http://www.yoursite.com/wimpy/example.mp3", "30", "30", "&autoplay=no", "FFFFFF");
</script>

Another line of code goes into your "head" tag to call up the Wimpy Java script which is used to play the button in conjunction with Flash. Here is a sample of the Wimpy button code that you must insert in the header of every page that you want the buttons to appear.
<script src="http://www.yoursite.com/wimpy/wimpy_button.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Installation Tips

The code is very easy to install.

If you encounter a problem with your button script such as the music does not play when the button is clicked then make sure you use the full URL address of your site to link the button to your MP3 file.as shown in the example code above.

The .swf file.
The same protocol applies to your Wimpy .swf file. To avoid errors also use the full URL address of your site when referencing the .swf file.

I helped a friend install the script on his webstie. He has had no experience with installing scripts. It took me two hours or so to get the script working the way I wanted it to. I am not a script writer and have not edited many scripts. I had to read the instructions several times on the Wimpy site before I could get a clear direction. I wasted some time getting confused about which single button script to use.

The Wimpy site seems to infer that if you have a certain issue with the Wimpy Button script then you should use an alternative script that is offered on the site. That is called the Javascript Audio Button. I downloaded this script because the Wimpy Button, when we tested it, was not performing well in Firefox Browsers. The button would not start on first click. We had to click it two times.

That is why we downloaded the Javascript Audio Button script. Well we couldn't get that to function at all. We tried many alternatives but none of them gave us the required outcome. So we opted out for the Wimpy Button script.

We installed it knowing that sometimes in some versions of the Firefox Browser the viewer would have to click the button two times to get the player to start playing. In that browser the button sometimes worked on the first click. We then noticed that it required only two clicks on one button then any other buttons on the same page would function normally with one click. Other than that I have no complaints about the Wimpy Button player.

We downloaded the trial versions of the two scripts. After determining which version was suitable for the website we made a simple transaction through PayPal to purchase the license. The activation code was emailed to the client within a few minutes. On entering the code into the appropriate file and uploading it to the server the "Demo" tag displayed on the buttons disappeared.

The Wimpy licence can be used on only one website so if you have several sites make sure you are confident on which site you will use the script.
